KESWICK’S third mountain festival is set to be the best yet with not one but two headline sponsors agreeing to support the five day event.
Cockermouth-based Jennings Brewery has agreed to sponsor the festival for the third year running and this time there’ll be an added bonus as Ordnance Survey has signed up as joint headline sponsors.
But the team behind the festival, virtually all of whom are volunteers, have pulled off two other pretty impressive feats – a fabulous new website has been created and a new Adventure Directory is hot off the press.
Keswick internet company e – IGNiTION have designed and built a new website where festival goers will be able to book walks, talks and other outdoor events online. The site www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk is the place to check out all the photos and a short film of the 2008 event and also where to find out first who is in the line up for 2009.
A 16-page Adventure Directory has been created featuring articles, news and information about what is happening in the great outdoors around Keswick. It has a comprehensive list of all the activity providers in the area who help to make the mountain festival a reality.
In the Adventure Directory you can read about who had the most influence on our patron Sir Chris Bonington’s early climbing career, his proudest moment and his favourite rock climb. Free copies can be collected in Keswick from upstairs in the Town Council Offices at 50 Main Street or Keswick Tourist Information Centre. Or download a copy from the NEW website
And if you think you could tackle a triathlon – that’s swimming 750 metres in what will be a chilly Derwentwater, followed by a 35 kilometre cycle ride and finally a 10 kilometre run along the scenic Walla Crag – entries for the 300 places available on Saturday May 16 have just opened.
The Keswick Mountain Festival dates you need for your diary are 13-17 May 2009 – it promises to be jam packed with every conceivable outdoor activity and coupled with an impressive line up of inspirational speakers.
