The Great Big Geocaching Treasure Hunt
During Keswick Mountain Festival we have a simply fabulous Geocaching Treasure Hunt for you to take part in absolutely FREE! And what great prizes can be won!!
The treasure hunt can be completed whenever you have some spare time during the festival; no one’s too young or old to take part. In fact we have two treasure hunts really, one for Adults and one for Families; both of which carry the opportunity to win great prizes.
How do you take part? Easy!
We give you a series of position coordinates & Geocache clues in and around Keswick. When you’ve solved the cache clues you simply complete and return your answers (using the Big Treasure Hunt cache clues handout) to Treasure Hunt HQ where every correct entry will be entered into the Big Treasure Hunt prize draw. Anyone can take part as long as you can read a map or use a GPS at a basic level; we give a grid reference so you can locate the exact position of your Virtual Geocache (a Geocache where the location is the cache) where you will be able to solve the cache clue by doing a bit of hunting about. You then add all your answers to the cache clue handout, only correct answers will be entered into the Big Treasure Hunt prize draw.
Don’t worry if you’ve never been Geocaching or used a GPS! We’ve arranged some family friendly “Introducing Geocaching” taster sessions run by the GPS Training Team, where you can acquire the basic GPS skills required to become involved in the growing sport of Geocaching, we can even loan you a GPS for the session. They will be run from the Adventure Base on the Friday/Saturday/Sunday of the festival – cost £2.50 pp (all proceeds to charity) – On Saturday & Sunday’s family friendly sessions, adults must be accompanied by a responsible child! There is a limit of 20 per session so booking is recommended.

Both Big Treasure Hunts will be available for you to take part in from the May Bank Holiday weekend and right through Keswick Mountain Festival. It will finish at midday on the last day of the festival after which the draw will be made at Festival HQ.
