    Right in the heart of the Lakes, Keswick and the surrounding area offers some simply amazing mountain trails and great road biking routes. Once again, this year there are a variety of guided rides and biking activities to get involved in, or if you're just passing through then simply take spin on your road bike around the beautiful countryside or test your off road skills at the trail centre in Whinlatter Forest. Dare 2b are this year's Bike Sponsor, they will be at the Festival Village don't forget to pop by and check out their fantastic gear!

    Explore Derwentwater by canoe, kayak or open water swimming! Whether you are trying something new, improving skills or just becoming more confident on the water, we have activities suitable for all ages and abilities under the guidance of professional and experienced watersports instructors. Our programme of water-based activities are wide and diverse with plenty of opportunities to try something different on the lakes and rivers close to Keswick.     We're delighted that the 2014 Keswick Mountain Festival speaker programme will once again be hosted at the lovely Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. In 2013, the Festival speaker line up included Sir Chris Bonington, Alan Hinkes, Simon Yates, Karen Darke, Monty Halls, Graeme Obree & many more. We have an even bigger line-up of high profile speakers to join us in 2014! The speaker line-up will be announced Monday 27th January.

    Sporting Events

    The festival is home to a great programme of sporting challenges. The long triathlon is one of the best courses on the calender, if you are new to the sport check out the short version to start you off. The trail race offers two distances including a 21KM and 11KM route, new for this year is a challenging 42KM route which scales the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike. For a short burst up Latrigg try out the Latrigg Fell Race. The Sportive offers three distances that will be taking in some of the great passes in the Lake District. The Derwent Island Swim is a fantastic open water swim around Derwent Island.

    See how many Wainwrights you can complete at the Keswick Mountain Festival. In partnership with local company Lake District Walker we have exclusively designed 4 walk routes to cover several Wainwrights around Keswick and the Lake District. All hikes are guided by expert walk leaders who will provide the most knowledgable guidence and ensure you get the most out of your day out in the Lakeland Fells.
