This half day river journey uses open canoes, which are very stable, comfortable and versatile. The section of the River Derwent that you'll travel down lies between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake. It’s approximately 5km long, and a very pleasant grade 1. You'll have open views of the fells, and you're bound to see a variety of wildlife. One section of the river has some fast moving water, and if the water levels are right there is a surfing wave to play on and practice your canoe handling.
