Check out the family activities on offer

The Adventure Base will offer taster activities for children to have a go at including a kids bouldering wall, bushcraft skills, climbing walls, water walkers and much more.  Give your children a taste of adventure while you are at the festival and get involved with family activities like treasure hunts,  canoe trips around the lake or orienteering events.

Activities include:

Family Adventure Day – Sat/Sun

We’ll go canoeing on Derwentwater in the morning, travelling to one of the Islands for a well earned cup of tea for the parents and fun and games for the kids. Then in the afternoon it’s off Ghyll Scrambling in one of the valleys amazing mountain streams…lots and lots of fun.

Ghyll Scrambling – Weds-Sun

Descend a natural water park encountering jumps, slides and dives into plunge pools. Suitable for 8 years plus. Adrenaline packed activity and great fun!

Keswick Mountain Rescue- Open Day – Sat

Visit the rescue base. See our vehicles, equipment, search dogs & 60th anniversary DVD. Learn about our history, try our rucksacks for size and chat to team members. Experience being splinted in a vacuum mattress.

Children welcome. Well-behaved dogs welcome.

Kids Bouldering Wall – Fri/Sat/Sun

King Kong Climbing Walls and Keswick Climbing Wall will be running a childrens bouldering wall for all ages and abilities to have a go on. This will be running all day in the Adventure Base so bring the kids along to have a go!

LikeaBike - Fri/Sat/Sun

Have a go sessions on the popular LIKEaBIKE; the best wooden and aluminium balance bikes in the world. They come in all sizes from toddlers to small adults, try them for free.

Tatty Bumpkin Classes – Fri/Sat/Sun

Tatty Bumpkin North Cumbria will be providing Tatty Bumpkin sessions for the younger Keswick mountain festival goer! Loosely based on yoga poses, the world of Tatty Bumpkin is unravelled through a mixture of movement and music, storytelling, multisensory props, relaxation and special Tatty Bumpkin stickers.

Tatty Bumpkin is suitable for any child aged 18 months – 7 years along with a parent/carer to guide them along the way. Both parent/carer and child will be able to spend some fun time together being Bendy Giggly Clever and Strong. They will both take away lots of ideas to create their own Tatty Bumpkin adventure which they can share together again and again. Sessions are free. Just turn up on the day!

 Via Ferrata – Weds- Sun

Follow in Julia Bradbury`s footsteps and save a packet! A First for the UK and The Lake District,the latest `Outdoor Adventure Capital`experience -The Honister Via Ferrata.

Water Walkerz – Fri-Sun

Try your skill at running on water – Hamster style. Watertight inflatable balls that will keep you dry as you make onlookers look in amazement!

Woodland Bush Trail – Fri-Sun

A fantastic opportunity for children to experience the natural environment surrounding Crow Park where they can Undertake a woodland bush trail and scavenger hunt, Recognise plants that can provide food and drink – and possibly try it and use natural materials to create environmental art.
