Cold Hands, Warm Heart
In December 2006 polar adventurer Hannah McKeand set a world record of 39 days, 9 hours and 33 minutes for skiing solo the 690 miles from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole, beating the previous record by nearly 2 days. Early in 2008, Hannah set out from Canada’s Ward Hunt Island, attempting to become the first woman to ski solo to the North Pole. Following a dramatic fall, just 2 weeks into the expedition, she dislocated her shoulder and was forced to evacuate. Undeterred, she intends to make another attempt early in 2010.
“One of the foremost polar athletes of our time”, Hannah is a witty, engaging speaker who delivers her many stories with self-deprecating humour and refreshing honesty; she will have you clinging to the edge of your seat and hanging on her every word. Sponsored by The North Face.
