Official Charity Partner

Nurture Lakeland

Nurture Lakeland is this year’s proud Official Charity Partner at the Keswick Mountain Festival.

The charities mission is simple. To inspire businesses and individuals to contribute to the conservation and enhancement of the Lake District and Cumbria, for current and for future generations.

Their record speaks for itself. They are the holders of Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Award 2010 for ‘Best Destination.’ To date, their fundraising and that of their business members hasraisedover £1.7 million in donations, helping to support over 40 conservation projects across the county.

One such project is ‘Fix the Fells’. With more than 8 million visitors to the Lake District every year, the fells and many of our high mountain paths and lakeshore walks were feeling the strain and suffering from erosion.

Fix the Fells path repair teams, with the help of fundraising, the generous support of partners and the Heritage Lottery Fund, have repaired over 150 upland paths. This is vital work which is helping to improve public access, reduce the amount of silt in rivers and protect peat soils and vegetation from erosion.

It’s one of many projects that Nurture Lakeland supports. Its work together with the generosity of its supporters and members is helping to ensure that Cumbria and the Lake District remain fantastic and beautiful places to visit.
