Love your Lakes
The town of Keswick is situated next to one of the most spectacular and stunning stretches of water in the Lake District – Derwentwater. Lakeside walking, fishing, sailing, nature-watching, quiet enjoyment of the surrounding hills – and outdoor swimming! - are all what makes the area so popular. Over 2.5 million visitors are drawn to the area every year and damaging amounts of washing detergents are entering the lakes. Love your Lakes is working to keep the lakes healthy and accessible for everyone to enjoy. It’s important that we all do what we can to protect the quality of the water in Derwentwater and it’s neighbour, Bassenthwaite Lake and throughout 2010, Love your Lakes will be helping local businesses, residents and visitors to take simple steps to help. The Love your Lakes team will be on hand at the Keswick Mountain Festival to show you how you can do your bit.
