Wainwrights For Women: Blencathra


 

A fairly strenuous walk with an immediate direct steep ascent to the summit. The routegoes up some rough and rocky ground. For those who want to do some easy scrambling Hall's Fell provides a great opportunity. Wainwright wrote 'this route is positively the finest way to any mountain top in the district'. For those who do not wish to scramble a lower path can be taken without losing any enjoyment. A reasonable level of fitness is required to enjoy your day out. Walking boots essential. A suggested kit will be provided on booking.

Friday 21st May - All women are welcome. Well behaved dogs controlled by female owners welcome

Directions:
Threlkeld village is on the A66 four miles from Keswick and 14 miles from Penrith. Turn off the A66 at eastern entrance to the village and then turn first right along a small road past a few houses on left and right and for about 0.5km to where the road is gated near the entrance to a large house on the left. Park on the lane taking care not to block any access points.
