Introduction to Digital Photography in the Outdoors

Workshop 1: Introduction to Digital Photography in the Outdoors

This half-day workshop is the perfect introduction to getting the best out of your digital camera in the great outdoors. It doesn't matter if you use a compact point-and-shoot, a DSLR or something in-between, this workshop will give you the simple tools needed to start creating great outdoor photographs. The basics of great photography are the same for all of us. You'll learn that it's not cameras that make fantastic pictures, it's you, the photographer and with a little knowledge you can start to make the kind of pictures you really like. The workshop will cover the basic functions and modes of all cameras, how to choose which mode to shoot which picture, how to get the best out of shutter speeds, apertures, focusing and flash and how to compose your pictures for landscape views and close up portraits and the most important tool of all, how to understand lighting.

The workshop will start at Ashness Bridge in Borrowdale and include a very pleasant stroll up the Watendlath Valley, past Surprise View, with it's famous view over Derwent Water. Dress for a gentle valley walk. Bring snacks and drinks.
