Mark Hines has had a love of the outdoors for as long as he can remember. He went on his first expedition at the age of 15, spending nine days hiking in the Pyrenees with a group of much stronger, older boys and instructors. Later on, having visited the Egyptian Sahara a number of times with friends, Mark decided to do the Marathon des Sables, which led to love of ultra-endurance racing.
In February 2012, Mark sets off on an attempt to break two current world speed records: the first is the fastest unsupported and unassisted expedition on foot to the Geographic North Pole, which currently stands at 34 days. The second record is for the fastest return journey, which currently stands at 87 days.
Joining Mark will be the Salomon 'mountain guru' and all round mountaineering specialist Nigel Shepherd. The pair are bound to inspire you with adventure with their intimate knowledge of the mountains and stories to share.
