About This Lecture
Local school pupils throughout Cumbria have the chance to meet “the worlds greatest living explorer” Ranulph Fiennes! Ranulph will present an exclusive talk for school pupils only, they will be mesmerised by his action packed adventures and stories of expeditions across the world.
For over 40 years Ranulph has lived through countless life-threatening experiences, broken many world records and led many expeditions to remote regions.
Ranulph’s expeditions and challenges include being the first to reach both poles, achieving a world record for unsupported northerly polar travel in 1990, climbing Everest to within 300m of summit and subsequentlyraising £2milllion for the British Heart Foundation in 2005 and then in 2009 successfully summiting Everest becoming the oldest Briton to do so.
He has written eighteen books including bestseller The Feather Men, and top selling biography of Captain Scott. His latest book My Heroes was published in 2011. The Feather Men was also released as major motion picture Killer Elite.
