The Wainwrights in Colour - Andy Beck

Mountain Evening

Inspired by the work of Master Fellwalker and artist Alfred Wainwright, Andy Beck has undertaken a major, 10 year project of producing a watercolour sketch of each of the 1500 illustrations drawn by AW in his seven volume A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells. Every single location for the illustrations has been meticulously researched so that Andy's references are taken from the exact location where AW stood to take his own black and white photographs.  In this talk Andy will tell tales from his extraordinary undertaking, pay homage to the great Alfred Wainwright and provide fascinating insights into how the scenes have changed in the 50 years between AW's project and his.
