Canoe and Bushcraft Day


A fun and educational day on Derwentwater, in stable open boat canoes, travelling to venues on and around the lake. You'll learn basic but essential skills of canoeing and bushcraft, as well as promoting an understanding of the natural environment. This is not a survival course, but an adventure suitable for everyone!

Practice skills such as:

- Tree and plant identification

- Wood collection and preparation

- How to use a kelly kettle and flint and steel

- Learn about different types of shelters

Meeting Point: outside national trust shop Derwentwater

Kit list:

Warm comfortable clothing for paddling in –  NO JEANS.
Waterproofs - jacket with hood and trousers.
Any personal medication.
Any favourite snacks/drink.
Change of clothes and towel – just in case! 
Sun cream / hat. Warm hat & gloves.
Packed lunch
