To celebrate their 75th Anniversary the BMC are hosting a jam packed BMC Montane Skills Camp free to festival attendees!

All workshops and talks are drop in (with the exception of beer tasting) and start on the hour so please arrive early to ensure you get a seat!

Simon Yearsley: Humble Alpine Beginnings

Simon Yearsley is a prodigious Alpinist, and travels the world in search of unclimbed lines and untouched summits. His penchant for explorative climbing was first sparked at nearby Shepherd’s Crag – a spot which he still regularly climbs. Free Beer & Live Music with Fernando Smith

Kick back with a beer in the BMC & Montane skills camp and listen to a laid back acoustic set with Cumbrian based singer-songwriter and poet Fernando Smith. He will be performing his GRID show – a collection of songs, poems and anecdotes written at or based on specific grid references across Cumbria. Mountain Heritage Trust have delved into their archives to bring you a screening of films from climbing days of the past, including 'Rock Queen' featuring legendary climber Catherine Destivelle. Afterwards, Gilly McArthur will be hosting a Q & A session, giving us her modern day account climbing Old Man of Hoy. Provided by Mountain Heritage Trust.

Northern Stroll / H2O Litter Pick
Get stuck in with the BMC’s latest campaign Hills 2 Oceans. Join us and photography-hikers Northern Stroll as we head out on a circular walk with our litter pickers to remove as much litter from the mountains as possible. This family friendly walk will be around two hours long. Meet us outside the BMC/Montane Tent, we’ll be in our green H2O tees!
