Back for more!

14 February 2016

This will be my second visit to the Keswick Mountain Festival.

In 2015, I was hoping to run one of the trail races, but ill-health prohibited me from taking part. Despite being under the weather, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the Festival, and knew I would be back to tackle the event.

The 10km Trail race on the Sunday will be my focus this year. It’s a distance I enjoy, and the scenery around Keswick will make it even more enjoyable. I am unfortunately starting from scratch again on the running front, but training is going well, and I am confident I will be on fine form come race day.

Although I live in the Central Belt in Scotland, there are plenty of opportunities to get out on local trails. People often imagine industry and shipbuilding when thinking of the River Clyde, however, the Clyde Valley provide some wonderful countryside and great trails to explore.

I am also looking forward to the other activities that will be on offer at KMF. In 2015, there was so much to do and not enough time to do it all. Plenty of day time activities, evening speakers and the music festival made for a busy weekend.

This year, I will be going to see the speakers each night, as well as enjoying the music on Friday and Saturday nights. Then there is the main on Sunday - the 10km Trail Race! I can’t wait!!
